Yoga: The New PE
Ready to provide your students with the life-changing skill of experiencing a body, mind, and heart connection? This interactive workshop will introduce physical educators to the primary tools of integrating yoga into PE as part of a warm up/cool down or weekly class practice. Educators will be introduced to postures that support students in stress-reduction, focus, more energy, empowerment, sense of community and fun. Learn how to adopt a new approach to physical education that serves as self-care for educators and students while increasing attentional stability, emotional regulation, and greater efficiency to the body-mind connection.

Mindfulness Tools for Parents & Student Well-Being Workshop – Parents will be introduced to common issues and trends negatively impacting teens today, and how parents can assist their children in navigating the daily stresses and pressures of high school. Parents will learn basic mindfulness tools for themselves and their children, as well as how mindfulness relates to the social-emotional development for students. Mindful Educator Retreat Information
Immerse yourself in a day of self-care and mindfulness meditation practices that restore a sense of balance, vitality, and overall nourishment to a fragmented and burned out nervous system that has endured the impact of the educational profession. In this retreat, you will directly experience mindfulness and cultivate the skills to:
- Develop a personal mindfulness meditation practice• Enhance personal social emotional development
- Experience the direct effects of gratitude and mindfulness through the practices of gentle yoga, mindful walking, mindful eating, and journaling
- How to incorporate mindfulness into daily classroom setting
- Build a network community of mindful educators through co-learning activities and resources
The intentions of this retreat are to build a capacity of personal support to foster a change in the way educators offer a learning experience by placing student and teacher well-being first in order to add greater connections and meaning to the teaching profession. By developing teachers with social emotional competence, we in turn develop better students with the same qualities.

Mindful Eating Workshop
Perhaps a love- hate relationship or no relationship with food at all? Eating is a part of our daily experience and an immediate gateway to being present to our daily lives. But the experience and relationship with eating has transformed into a mindless act–eating on autopilot, driving the car, watching tv, etc . We are bombarded with information on what to eat, how much, why, when to eat…but what happens when you learn how to use mindfulness as a gateway to BEing present? Your body and mind deserve a gift of nourishment from the inside out.

In this workshop you will learn:
- Practical methods of awareness to help break the cycle of mindless eating
- How to distinguish physical versus emotional hunger
- Become aware of food related triggers and acquire the freedom to choose your response

My journey with food has been a gnarly ride. As an emotional eater, I used food as a numbing device to cope with stress and overwhelming emotions, or would avoiding certain foods altogether only to be triggered by cravings that lead to indulgence, followed by guilt and remorse.
What if there was a way to eat with more awareness and develop a healthier relationship with food?
Since my teen years, I used food as a way to cope with stress and stuff down difficult emotions. Food was a quick fix to feed a hunger that could not be fulfilled by exercise, relationships, my career, alcohol, or any other mindless distractions. As much as I thought of food as a source of nourishment, unhealthy patterns and behaviors developed involving food, which became an outlet to fuel what wasn’t getting emotionally processed in my life. I would eat just to eat or relied upon the clock to determine when or how much I ate. I missed being present to internal cues of fullness, hunger, taste, satisfaction and more. I felt powerless over cravings and guilty for poor choices of treating my body with such disrespect.
The practice of mindfulness and learning tools to develop a balanced relationship with food and eating led to more awareness and appreciation of food.
